As sit and listen to the rooftop dogs I start to realize that so much can change with a 5 hour flight itenerary. Within that small time I have settled into a world I never new, a place so foreign. Tonight I flew into Morelia a quick 40 minute drive from my home for the next 10 days. It was small and had very few terminals I felt like Johnny Depp flying in on a Cesna in the movie, “Blow”. I had a great refresher on my espanol with my cab driver Gilberto. It sounds like a name that one of my great uncles from Spain may have had. After the rendezvous with Dan and Becky I was treated with tequila and cerveza. Patzcuaro is real Mexico. Not Cancun or Tijuana, but away from las touristas and the lame gringos that one might think to find on vacation. The printmaking facility is publicly funded and I am very anxious to get in and do some work. I think this place will do wonders for my morale and the distractions from the states are minimal and not nearly as prevalent. Tomorrow is breakfast and a trip to the market, things are looking great and the photo opportunities as well as cerveza are plentiful.
